I am not getting the Europe '72 box set coming out. Uncle Sam needs my money more on April 15th. Here is the question I came up with while recently listening to disc (2) of DP 12. Would you pay that same about for roughly 24-26 different Dick's picks, if you could choose the ones you wanted? Say you could pick DP's 1,2,7,9,10,12, and so on, until you reached 72 cd's. Then they personalized it and made it all fancy and what not like the Europe box and its priced the same. Which one would you choose if this was really a option and you had your choice? Just asking. Peace

Its an interesting question. I would go for E72 only because i already have many of the DPs that i really wanted and since they were 2-track recordings, i can't see how they could really improve them over what has been commercially released. So i would be paying for shows that i have already chosen not to purchase and the fluff that goes with it. In contrast, there has only been one complete show released from E72 so having vault quality shows from this tour will (i hope) be a new and gratifying experience. However i agree that the first sets could get old really quick if you started listening to these shows back to back.

I would much rather recieve 72 discs covering a much wider range than the short period of the 1972 European tour....i mean really , how much does any song differ night to night vs. year to year?

Absolutely.
Really, how many 'ChinaTown Shuffles' or 'Next Time You See Mes' does one need to hear performed by the Grateful Dead in the Spring of '72?

yeah maybe if your new to the music. Most people like me who listen to this music every single day would much rather have the Euro 72 tour. And alot of the songs do vary from night to night, go listen to the boards, most are on here.

what would be kinda cool would be for them to release something that would hold all the Dicks picks albums. Almost like Phish has their own CD binder that you can buy afterwards but obviously it would have to be something nicer than just a stupid black binder. Maybe like some kind of wooden box. Like the Warlocks box but bigger. Or maybe some kind of small wooden chest with the cds fitting into slots or something inside. If they did something like that it would only make sense that it be some sort of tribute to Dick. Or at least something like that. Maybe include some kind of small book with pictures, lists of his favorite shows, stories, etc. Would be kinda cool if it wasnt too much money but I doubt they will ever do it. But then again I guess they proved that they will release everything and anything now with the release of the Euro box set. I never thought they would ever release it and I was very wrong.
